Has anyone done the cat skiing at Steamboat called "Powder Cats"? Im looking at going somewhere with my dad over spring break and I really want to ski some powder. I wanted to do heli-skiing but that's hella expensive. The closest I've done to powder skiing is Vazquez Cirque in Winter Park. Im about a level 8 skier and I ski on the east coast (NC and WV)

What's powder skiing like compared to slush/ice/groomed on-piste stuff? Is it really hard on your legs?

Also, If anyone has done the powder cats, what was it like? Would you recommend it?

Aside from Jackson Hole and Whistler, can you suggest some other good places for snow cat skiing?

Big Sky, Montana

Wolf Creek, Colorado (gets a ton of snow)

powder is kind of hard on the legs, but you don't notice it because you can't wipe the smile off your face. Now, not ALL deep snow is powder. Sometimes there's a crust on top that's really frustrating. Sometimes the snow is wet and it's crappy concrete snow.

But nice, fluffy stuff is the easiest, most fun skiing you'll ever do. You have so much more control than packed snow and even if you fall you can't help but laugh. If you go really fast over it, you feel like you're flying.

Powder cats are fun, it's just like hiking up the hill, just a lot faster. Heli skiing is crazy awesome, but yeah it is hella expensive.

I don't know about the Powder Cats, but if you hit up Steamboat make sure you go for a good soak at Strawberry Park Hot Springs.

nicely I truthfully have tried the two and extremely love the two yet when I could %. a typical.... go u . s . snowboarding or snow shoeing interior the woods blazing a path interior the pristine snow with a definite somebody, it is likewise an excellent work out. Then afterwards, a effective heat fireplace and a warm drink to heat up, oh after which yet another form of work out. Now it extremely is a suited wintry climate Sunday afternoon. ;)
