If you are just starting out, just worry about keeping yourself dry and warm. Make sure the material is waterproof on the outside.

A warm winter jacket, gloves, hat, etc are all needed. Nylon snowpants are recommended. NEVER use jeans or something that can get wet.

Enjoy the slopes! Don't get frustrated on your first day, keep at it and you will have lots of fun

The items you listed look fine. The key is to dress in layers so if you get too hot, you can always take a layer off. Don't wear jeans as they'll just absorb the snow and you'll be wet and cold. The water resistant jacket/pants are good. You'll also need a hat and gloves to keep you warm. I've been skiing since I was 5, I'm 38 now and have a lot of experience dressing properly. I've skied in the cold Midwest, out West, Central and Korea. Have fun on the first day and if you're frustrated, don't worry. The next time you go will be that much more enjoyable and it'll keep getting better all the time.

Those are fine. Actually, probably more expensive than needed.

My one concern would be that as a beginner, it might be better to have bibs (overalls) in the way of ski pants. With those pants you are looking at, you may be getting some snow inside there...but that is just a minor concern.

Most importantly:

1) Get a beginners lesson. The price you pay will be well worth it in the long run. I used to instruct. Trust me. Don't learn by a friend, and don't try to do it on your own. It's not like basketball or something. There is a very specific sequence that instructors go through with beginners to start them out on the right foot. All you need is one lesson, and you should be good to go for the rest of the day.

2) Wear comfortable clothes, dress in layers, and wear mitts or gloves. During the first part of your lesson, you will be doing quite a bit of walking around and hiking, and you will overheat in that jacket. So I suggest wearing a good thermal undershirt (NO COTTON - cotton retains all that sweat, and you will be cold and miserable), perhaps a turtleneck, and if you are going to be in a cold place, a sweater as well, all under your jacket. If you get hot, you can shed as many layers as you like. For under the ski pants, probably some long thermal underwear will do. Also, one pair of quality, thin socks. Thick socks, or multiple layers of thin socks tend to either bunch up, or cut off circulation to your feet, and become very uncomfortable. I have known skiers that even went barefoot...a little nasty, but really, if your feet get cold, then the boots are lousy. Feet shouldn't get cold unless you are up in the northeast somewhere in the middle of a 30 below wind chill day.

A hat (or helmet), and gloves (or mitts). Gloves are very important, for a couple reasons. First, your hands will stay warm, and secondly, snow is sharp (ice crystals). When people fall and their bare skin comes in contact with snow, often times that snow will cut the skin...kind of puts a damper on the day. I never liked to teach people without gloves. I always made them go find some somewhere if possible.

Have fun! Skiing is my favorite activity. Been doing this for 30 years now...and hope to never stop!

Yeah, i think of so! once you're contained in the East they're going to be great for something there, only ensure you have a reliable music on them and shop the bases in stable shape, and in case you prefer to pass rapid have a fluorocarbon race wax placed on them. contained in the park i might stay faraway from rails or tables which could injury the perimeters and bases, otherwise for universal jumps and the pipe they might desire to be great. once you're snowboarding a brilliant sort of powder out West you will possibly desire to prefer something else. Years in the past while i became into studying and had my much less costly newbie to intermediate point skis I had the exhilaration of using up the chairlift with some Austrian ski instructors. They invited me down the professional path with them, and that i had in no way executed something previous intermediate at that element. recommendations you that they had the main up-tp-date and maximum excellent and superb skis on, whats up, ski racing in Austria is like soccer or baseball contained in the U. S., besides, I had my much less costly Fischer skis on, and accompanied them down, they stopped on the backside and looked way up the hill to seem for me, they have been so stunned i became into precise there with them!! After that i offered some incredibly costly skis and that i hated them, the ski shop could no longer cause them to hold out nicely, so after a pair of years I swapped them. Elan is between the businesses that developed the formed skis and that they are on the leading fringe of ski technologies. As new technologies emerge they trickle right down to all tiers of skis. The ski businesses prefer you to purchase the dearer ones, and the ski magazines are a merchandising gadget for costly skis, yet with perfect maintenance for a leisure skier your skis would be great, till you're a racer or prefer to get into aggressive snowboarding and prefer greater particular overall performance. Even then your skill point must be waiting to handle it and tell the adaptation. there are maximum of diverse skis available now with all forms of pictures maximum skiers won't even recognize what you're snowboarding. i think of the Elan 4 pictures are sort of cool, racy looking.

Those look fine, make sure you layer your clothing with items that can breath well. That way, if you sweat, it will pull it away from your body.
